For
years I have explored the serendipity of mixing media, working
in both two and three dimensions and combining paint, line drawing,
photos and print-making techniques to create a world that stands
at the junction of outer and inner experience.
Just as thoughts and images from the past often surface in our
present consciousness, in my collages I often include photos
of previous two and three dimensional work, which meet and converse
with new material.
When I moved back
to New York City five years ago from Connecticut, the richness
of street life gave rise to a new energy and density
in my work, as it reflects the "mixed media" and constant
inventiveness of the city itself.
All my art explorations have been about breaking down the labels
we tend to attach to things and letting the objects take on their
own life, inviting us to encounter them in a way that is light-hearted,
personal, and resonant.
