Lucille Nurkse

 

 

Born in Baltimore Maryland and a resident of Brooklyn Lucille Nurkse is a graduate of Wellesley College and has a Masters in Early Childhood Education from Brooklyn College. She studied Chinese Calligraphy with Wang Chi-Yuan, printmaking with Tim Stocco, and oil painting with Andrew Reiss. A participant in juried shows around the United States and an artist in residence at the Byrdcliffe Art Colony and the Blue Mountain Center she is particularly indebted to Matisse, Bonnard, Milton Avery, and Jacob Lawrence. Besides private collections, her art has been displayed in three hospitals and several corporate settings, including Nabisco Food Group.
